The holidays are right around the corner! I am going to be doing a gift guide series on the blog, and this is the first! My Holiday Gift Guide for Him is all the things I am going to be buying for the men in my life this year (don’t peek, you know who you are!). Doesn’t it always seem like buying for your dad, brother, bf, grandpa, is the most difficult! They never ask for anything (or want anything) and they always seem to have everything. I hope this will make holiday shopping a little less difficult!

1. Steve Madden x GQ Ted Cap Toe Boot

Leather combat-like boots are a big trend in menswear right now. These may not be for everyone, but they won’t be hard for your man to style!

2. JBL Flip 4 Splashproof Speaker

Portable and water-resistant. Great for the music loving men in your life!

3. Clark Desert Boots

These boots are great, my bf has a grey suede pair. They come in many different leather and suede variations.

4. Jack Mason Nautical Chronograph Leather Strap Watch

5. MVMT Leather Strap Watch 40mm

6. Beats Powerbeats3 Wireless Earphones

I bought these for the bf a couple of months ago and he loves them! He says the sound quality is really great and they’re small and lightweight.

7. J. Crew Vest

         J. Crew vests are really great quality, and a staple for the fall/winter for every man! Comes in Navy and Black.

8. Ray-Ban Clubmaster

I love Ray-Bans and this style looks great on every face shape!

9. American Gods by Neil Gaiman

Fall Scalloped Sweater

Happy October! I wanted to share one of my favorite sweaters I’ve picked up recently. It’s a great fall transition piece; perfect for the in-between weather we’ve been having. Finally in the low 70’s here in Maryland and I could not be happier! You know how the morning air during the fall season is really crisp and cool? That’s my favorite – so refreshing!

Scalloped sweater - 1

This sweater is from Forever21 and surprisingly really good quality. The best part? It’s only $25!! You can’t beat that. It looks great with jeans, and shorts, if it’s still warm near you. I think what really caught my eye about this sweater is how effortless it looks! I am all for fashion that looks comfy and effortless, yet totally chic. It also is a great layering piece – it would look super cute with a military style jacket! *major heart eyes*

I can’t get enough of all the cute detailing on the sweater. Apart from the scalloped hems, it also has distressed detailing throughout which I think makes it look more expensive. I love that it’s cropped and can easily be worn off the shoulder.

I paired the sweater with my favorite high-waisted distressed jeans from American Eagle. These jeans fit me like a glove! They have been my go-to recently to add some more sass to any outfit. And who doesn’t need some more sass – amirite?! Right now, all American Eagle jeans are BOGO 50% off AND an extra 30% off online with the code SHOPFALL. Go get you some.

The shoes that I’m wearing are faux leather booties I bought from Target a couple of years ago but I will link a few similar pairs below! I tried this outfit with black, brown and gray shoes and I definitely liked how the brown looked best! It really compliments the cream sweater perfectly.

What other fall posts would you guys want to see?? Let me know in the comments!

My Fall Beauty Favorites

It’s finally feeling like fall outside!! Bring on the colder weather, changing leaves and cozy sweaters!! I love summer, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve come to realize that summer is much less fun when you have to work all day long instead of laying on the beach. *Sigh* those were the days. Now summer is mostly just hot and humid, with a little fun sprinkled in. Okay, okay that’s a little dramatic, but I do LOVE fall. I just stocked up on my favorite fall candles from Bath and Body Works and started changing over the décor in my house. I’m going to have a post talking all about the fall décor in my house coming soon!

With the changing of the seasons, comes some changes in my beauty routine and beauty products. I want to do another post all about my skin care routine when my skin starts to get my dry; closer to the winter months. Today I’m gonna talk about different makeup products I like to use when it starts to cool down and my tan starts to fade.

Foundation

If you read my Summer “No Makeup” Makeup Look, then you know that in the warmer months I reach for BB Creams because they are so lightweight. As the weather gets cooler and less humid I love to use the Maybelline Fit Me foundation in the shade 125 Nude Beige or 120 Classic Ivory.

This foundation comes in two finishes: Matte & Poreless or Dewy & Smooth. I have combination skin so I prefer the Matte & Poreless formula over the Dewy & Smooth! I have gone through so many bottles of this foundation, I love it that much (currently have four bottles in my makeup drawer – issues). Even though it’s a medium to full coverage foundation, it feels lightweight on the skin, and never looks cakey.

Bronzer

When I start to lose my tan I turn to the Elf Golden Bronzer. This bronzer is great for paler skin tones that want to add a little color, definition and glow to the face – and who doesn’t want that?? I was a little skeptical when I saw this bronzer in the drugstore because it looks like it would be very glittery. Instead I would say it’s very luminous, with no chunky glitter. I have been using this bronzer a lot lately and it gives me the perfect, natural glow. The palette comes with four colors in it, and it’s best to just blend them all together with your brush and apply it wherever you would apply bronzer. It also comes in “cool” and “warm” shades.

Eyeshadow

In the fall and winter months I love to do dramatic smokey eyes and use darker shadows. You’ll see when I talk about nails and lips, I really love the brown and purple shades for fall. There are two palettes that I’m always reaching for, my Urban Decay Naked2 palette and the Urban Decay Naked Smokey palette. There are certain eyeshadows from each palette that I gravitate towards…

From the UD Naked2 palette I love the colors Tease, Busted and Suspect. I’ll put Tease in the crease or all over the lid, and then I’ll use Busted or Suspect to deepen up the look or smoke it out.

From the UD Naked Smokey palette I lean towards Dirty Sweet, Smolder and Whiskey. I like to put Dirty Sweet in the crease or all over the lid and then use Smolder or Whiskey to smoke it out. SALE ALERT: the Urban Decay Naked Smokey palette is HALF OFF at ulta.com right now, only $27!

Another eyeshadow I wanted to shout out was the L’oreal Infallible eye shadow in 892 Amber Rush. I’ve been hearing a lot about this eyeshadow for years and I finally picked it up to try it for myself – it is incredible! First off, it is so pigmented and for being so glittery, there is little fallout. It stays put all day long, and brightens your eyes. I love putting it all over my lid and then using a light or deep brown in the crease to blend it out. Highly, highly recommend.

Lipstick

I love to wear darker lipsticks in the fall and winter time. Give me alllll of the vampy lips. I don’t experiment much with crazy colors, but I wear a lot of deep purples and browns.

For a great liquid lip that lasts all day, I reach for my Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lip in the color Bow N Arrow. This is more of a brown lip color and dries to a matte finish. It is really easy to apply and dries quickly.

From left to right: Bow N Arrow, Brown Blush, Raisin

A lip combo that I’ve been loving lately is first lining my lips with Maybelline Lip Liner in the color Raisin. Then I apply my Maybelline Matte Lip Stick in the color 575 Brown Blush. This combination is a nice deep purple. The liner does a great job at lasting throughout the day, but I do need to reapply the lipstick after eating or drinking.

Dark Nails

Just like I love my dark lips, I love my dark nails for the fall. Two polishes specifically that I will wear over and over again are EssieAngora Cardi, and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri299 Go Garnet. Essie’s polish is a nice maroon purple color, not too dark, but a great shade for fall. Sally Hansen’s polish is a very dark, almost black, purple shade. The Insta-Dri line of polishes is really great and inexpensive. They do dry very quickly – and if you’re anything like me, who can’t sit still long enough to not smudge your polish, this formula is really great!!

Would you guys want to see fall makeup look? Let me know in the comments! I have so many fall posts that I’m working on, and I’d love suggestions for things you all want to see!

10 Fall Fashion Must-Haves!

Happy Monday! I hope the Monday blues aren’t too bad for you today. I wanted to get this post out to you all about my fall fashion must-haves, since the weather is finally cooling down! I have a lot in store for posts this season and I can’t wait for you all to see what I’ve been up too!

Fall Must Haves - 1

My first must-have for fall is long line cardigans. I bought this one at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and I absolutely love it! It’s great for transitioning into fall because it’s not very heavy and perfect for layering. I also am loving this camel color for the fall time; gimme all the browns please! I can’t find it in any more colors online, so if you know something I don’t, hook a girl up! I need it in a bunch of different colors. This cardigan is from the BP brand at Nordstrom, and is under $50!

My second must-have this fall is hats! In my case, I am loving this floppy, fedora style hat from Macy’s. Hats are becoming a new favorite of mine. I got into wearing baseball caps last year, and now I wear them all the time whenever I have a bad hair day. I bought this hat for my trip to Nashville a few weeks ago, and it was definitely out of my comfort zone. After wearing it a few times though and getting lots of compliments, its grown on me and I really do love it! I think this style is so cute to wear with sweaters and can really dress up any outfit. Just imagine wearing this, walking through a little pumpkin patch or going to brunch; yes I’m a basic white girl and it’s okay.

Fall Must Haves - 3

My next fall must-have is loafers. I am loving that menswear for women is a trend right now. I mean, how cute are these loafers!? The leopard print definitely gives them more feminine vibes, as well as the pointed toe; I just love the style of these. These loafer’s are from the brand, Halogen; I purchased mine at Nordstrom. Loafers are an easy way to dress up any look; I have even paired these with ripped denim shorts and a band tee! They are so comfortable and definitely a staple in my wardrobe this season.

Fall Must Haves - 2

My fourth fall necessity is, you guessed it, denim jackets. If you guys follow my blog you’ve seen this jacket a bazillion times, because I am always reaching for it when I need a jacket. I am obsessed with layering denim jackets with sweaters and t-shirts, which makes it perfect for fall. This particular denim jacket is from Macy’s and I bought it in a size M (I’m usually a xs or s) because I wanted it to fit oversized.

Fall Must Haves - 8

Another must-have for fall…bright-colored bags! I don’t know about you, but I wear mostly neutral colors in the fall and winter (I’m trying to branch out alittle – bear with me), so a fun colored bag works great for me. I love this one from TJ Maxx because of the autumn color, which pops when paired with any outfit! What color is this anyway…pumpkin? Burnt orange? I wanna say squash, but that seems too specific. Either way, this color screams fall!

Fall Must Haves - 7

My sixth fall must-have for my closet is tennis shoes! These are from Vans, and they caught my eye because of the mix of black and brown. It seems most people think it’s taboo to wear black and brown together, and in some cases they’re right! But if you pair them the right way, brown and black look great together. Tennis shoes are essential for many different seasons, but I love them especially during fall to transition from summer.

Fall Must Haves - 5

My next fall essential is mom jeans. I’m so happy that mom jeans became a trend after boyfriends jeans, because your girl just cannot pull off boyfriend jeans. I am too skinny and my legs are too long I just look like I bought jeans that don’t fit me. Sooo, mom jeans are the next best thing. I like pairing mom jeans with heels and booties for a more dressy look. These are a really old pair I have from Hollister, but I love how they fit me and have a straighter hemline below the knee.

Fall Must Haves - 1 (2)

My eighth fall must-have is slouchy sweaters. This white sweater from TopShop is the first of many slouchy sweaters I’ll be buying this season. I like to wear this sweater off the shoulder, and it’s SO cozy! I bought it from Nordstrom, and it comes in this beautiful white color, as well as a vibrant yellow. This sweater is super easy to wear, and is very flattering because of the bell sleeves and “v” neckline. I don’t usually go for white during the fall time, but I really like how it pops with dark denim.

Fall Must Haves - 11

Number nine on my list of must-haves for fall is all about the details, details, details. To be more specific, statement sleeves and back details are a huge trend right now. This sweater has gorgeous bell sleeves, and a lattice back! These two details are great for spicing up an everyday sweater. I have seen lots of different statement sleeves this season; flare sleeves, ruffled sleeves, blouson sleeves and layered sleeves. Bell sleeves are a great way to ease into the statement sleeve trend!

Fall Must Haves - 13

My tenth and final fall must-have is BOOTIES! Can you ever have enough booties?? I don’t think so. These booties are from Target last year and I’ve just about worn them to death. You need a pair of black booties and brown booties as staples in your wardrobe for fall and winter. They are great to dress up an outfit, but are more casual than heels (not to mention way more comfortable).  I usually cuff my jeans with these booties because they rise a little bit higher than my ankles.

Fall Must Haves - 16

Everything about this post makes me so happy because fall is finally here! I just placed an order on Bath and Body Works website to feed my hoarding addiction of their fall candles. *sigh* What are your fall must-haves??

Follow me and reach out with any questions or comments, I’d love to hear from you!

My Nashville Adventure!

Oh, my, gosh, Nashville you have STOLEN my heart. If ya’ll haven’t been to Nashville before, you need to start booking your trip! I went for three days with my friend Casey, and we did not want to leave! The people there are so friendly, and kind, the city is so clean and interesting and theres just so much good energy everywhere. If you love country music and good vibes, Nashville is the place to be.

I couldn’t figure out how I wanted to write this post; whether I’d break it up by each day or by category. So I decided to break down each day we were there, and at the end of this post I’ll put links to all the restaurants and attractions to make it easier for you guys! I hope you enjoy all my adventures in Nashville, I already can’t wait to go back.

Nash - 1

Day 1:

Our flight landed early, around 10:30 am on Friday which gave us the whole day to explore. On the flight to Nashville, I wanted to be comfortable, but I also knew I wasn’t going to be able to change until later in the day. I wore these shorts from American Eagle, the black thermal is from Nordstroms (mentioned in my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale post), as well as my loafers. My hat is from Macy’s, my bralette is from Express and my belt is from Lulu’s. We couldn’t check into our Airbnb until 4, which was in the 12South neighborhood of Nashville. So we rented a car (I HIGHLY recommend doing this), and drove to the 12South neighborhood to grab some lunch.

Our first stop was the Frothy Monkey which is a coffeehouse with good food and a cozy atmosphere. I recommend coming here if you’re looking for a quick bite to eat, they offer really fresh sandwiches and salads, and of course great coffee!

Nash - 1 (3)

While walking down 12 South we had our first encounter with Amelia’s Flower Truck. Guys! Is this not the cutest idea for a business?? I’m sure many of you have seen or heard of Amelia’s before, but basically it’s a flower shop on (adorable) wheels, and they change locations every day. Every time we passed by I was so sad I didn’t have a place to bring flowers back too!

Nash - 2

After lunch we drove to the Parthenon which is in Centennial Park near Vanderbilt. The Parthenon is pretty cool because it is the only replica of the original Parthenon in Athens, Greece. We didn’t go inside, but there is a small museum inside that you can visit.

Nash - 2 (1)

Besides just the Parthenon, Centennial park is gorgeous! We hung out on the pond, under a weeping willow tree for a little, while we waited for our Airbnb to be ready. We were so lucky to have such amazing weather while we were there!

Nash - 4

Fast forward to after our much needed nap, we changed and went to explore Music Row in Downtown Nashville. Now, before hitting Music Row (Broadway), we were starting to feel like we weren’t too far from home. Then you come onto Music Row and that’s where you get your full dose of the Nashville energy. SO. MUCH. NEON. This is definitely the most touristy part of Nashville, as we would soon find out, but it was awesome. Live music everywhere, eclectic people, hat and boot shops, did I mention..neon?, we couldn’t stop smiling!

Nash - 3 (1)

For dinner we went to Merchants which is right on Broadway. It’s a three level restaurant and bar, with the bottom level being a bistro. The food was amazing, I got a pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries and Casey got pulled pork mac and cheese. Also, I thought it was really cute and unique that instead of having chips or bread on the table, they had garlic popcorn! I don’t know if that’s a southern thing or what, but I thought it was really cute (and tasted delicious). For tonight I changed into this top from Hollister that I bought years ago, and my cowgirl boots from Target.

Nash - 2 (2)

Friday night after dinner, we bar hopped to three different bars on Music Row. It turned out each of the bars were very different from each other, which was nice because we wanted to scope everything out the first night. We went to Benchmark, Acme Feed & Seed and The Stage. Acme Feed and Seed is a huge four level bar and restaurant, with a rooftop bar. The views from the roof we’re so cool, but they didn’t have any live music playing. So next we went to Benchmark which is on a side street of Broadway. Benchmark was really neat because it was much smaller, with a quieter atmosphere and really amazing live country music bands. Last we ended up at The Stage, which had a huge dance floor and a louder live band performing cover songs.

Processed with VSCO with t1 preset

Day 2:

We couldn’t believe how much we had accomplished already during our first day in Nashville. Day one was all about exploring and seeing as much as we could take in. Today we wanted to dig a little deeper and check some more things off our list. First, we stopped and got brunch at Proper Bagel which is on Belmont Blvd, near our first Airbnb. We had read online that they are known for their New York style bagels. Being that we’re Jersey girls, we had to put that to the test. I will say, the bagels we’re really good, and besides that the food in general was awesome! I got an everything bagel with lavender and honey cream cheese (whaaat) and fresh fruit on the side.

Nash - 2 (3)

After brunch we stopped back on 12South to see the I Believe in Nashville wall art and stop at the Sprinkles Cupcake ATM machine. To wander around the city today I wore these high waisted shorts from Cotton On, this cold shoulder top from Express, my same Macy’s hat and my slides from JustFab.

Nash - 4 (1)

Nash - 1 (4)

One of the big items we needed to check off our list was the Country Music Hall of Fame! If you’re a Shania Twain fan like me, I freaked when I saw her exhibit. Totally fan-girled and I’m not ashamed. Is she not a complete legend?? Love her. I think she was the first country star to really bring out my love for country music. The Country Music Hall of Fame was really cool and if you take the time to read all of the exhibits, you will learn some very interesting things about your favorite artists.

Nash - 6

Nash - 2 (4)

After the Country Music Hall of Fame, we decided to head over to our second Airbnb which was located in East Nashville. Can we take a moment and talk about HOW CUTE our second Airbnb is??? I died and went to heaven, I want to live here. It was a cute little studio in this woman’s backyard and it was everything we could’ve ever wanted.

Nash - 6 (1)

For dinner we went to Rosepepper, which is a Mexican restaurant in EastNash. We had heard it as a must-go restaurant if you like authentic Mexican food. After dinner we went back to Music Row and back to Acme Feed & Seed. We just couldn’t get enough of the rooftop views! To go out I wore my favorite high waisted jeans from TopShop, this top from Windsor and my go-to wedges from Bakers Shoes that I’ve had for years.

Nash - 1 (7)

Day 3:

We started off our last full day with the sole purpose of taking photos with all the different wall art that we found. For this day I wore one of my favorite outfits of the trip, this white lace dress from American Eagle, my cowgirl boots from Target and this floral bandana from Target.

Nash - 3 (5)

The two wings are located in The Gulch part of Downtown Nashville on 11th ave south. They are right next to each other so you can hit them both at the same time. TIP: there will be a line to take pictures with them. I recommend going earlier in the morning (we went at 10 am) because by noon there will be a line down the street to take photos.

Nash - 4 (4)

Nash - 5 (3)

The Draper James wall is located in the 12South neighborhood, across from the I Believe in Nashville wall art.

Nash - 6 (2)

This cute flower wall is also in the 12South neighborhood, on the side of Green Pea Salon. Make Music Not War, is right across from the flower wall.

Nash - 7 (1)

For lunch, we went back to East Nash and ate at Marché Artisan Foods. Marché is a breakfast and lunch spot that also doubles as a coffee shop (clearly we have a thing for coffee shops). I ordered a fresh grilled cheese with pesto, local tomatoes and fresh mozzarella on grain bread. They also had a little shop with local foods that you could buy and bring with you. I bought some local strawberry jam, which I had on a sandwich today of lunch and can vouch that it is ah-mazing. There really isn’t anything better than fresh, local food.

Nash - 1 (8)

After lunch, we went to our Airbnb and changed because it was so hot outside, and decided to drive to Broadway – Music Row and do some shopping and grab a beer at Rock Bottom Brewery. My second outfit of the day features the same denim shorts from American Eagle, the same belt from Lulus and I paired it with this ribbed tank top from Free People. For dinner, we wanted something quick and cheap and we had heard a lot about Five Points Pizza in East Nashville. Now us being Jersey girls, self-proclaimed bagel and pizza snobs (don’t hate us cause you don’t get it), I will say Five Points Pizza is really really good. If you blind folded me and gave me a slice of Jersey pizza and a slice of Five Points pizza, I probably couldn’t tell the difference. So props to you Five Points pizza, giving the people what they deserve!

Nash - 2 (7)

For our last night, we had heard about a local dive bar called The Station Inn, so we decided to start there and see where the night took us. The Station Inn has live, acoustic Bluegrass music every night! Now i’m not going to lie, we didn’t know what we were walking into, and what to expect. Bluegrass is not my go-to music type, but these musicians were truly incredible. Whether or not you like Bluegrass and roots music, you can appreciate their talent and know that this was where country music all started from. They weren’t there to perform for you, they were there to jam with the people around them, which was really cool to watch. I truly think this was my  favorite part of this trip because we really immersed ourselves in old Nashville, and the people that live there. We made a lot of friends with the locals and it really made our trip. We ended the night at the rooftop bar of the Thompson Hotel, which had almost a panoramic view of Nashville which was breathtaking.

Nashville really has something for everybody. Great food, better music, and amazing people.

Tips & Tricks:

Airbnb

I would really say getting an Airbnb (or more than one) is the best way to get the most out of your trip. If we had gotten a hotel in downtown Nashville, we may not have gotten to see as much of Nashville and all of its subparts, as we did. We chose two Airbnb’s in opposite parts of Nashville so we could immerse ourselves in the different neighborhoods and meet some of the people that live there.

Rent a Car

Renting a car is also my biggest tip to get the most out of your trip. We named our rental car Linda (she was glorious) and with her we had total freedom to wander and explore and make up our schedule as we went along. We weighed the pros and cons of the cost of renting the car and having to pay for parking versus just ubering around, and renting the car just made the most sense to us. Ubers are inexpensive, but they add up, and we wouldn’t have had as much freedom to go back and forth, and make pit stops when we saw something on the side of the road that intrigued us.

Ask for the best LOCAL spots

Almost every place we went, whether it was a shop, a restaurant, a bar, what have you, we asked our cashier/waiter/etc. what they recommended we see/visit. It’s hard when you’re planning a trip to somewhere that you’ve never been, to find real reviews and recommendations on where to go. Asking locals where they love to go really shows you a new perspective on the culture and lifestyle of the city and the people that call it home.

Flirty Fall Transition

Happyy Friday!! I am so excited for Fall, maybe I’m a little premature but I’m ready for the cooler weather. Fall fashion is my absolute favorite! I love wearing jeans and cozy sweaters and layering different pieces. Sometimes trying to transition into fall from summer weather can be hard! Finding the balance can be a challenge, but fun too! Last night it was a little cooler out here, so I put this outfit together for date night.

falltransition - 5

falltransition - 2

I’m obsessed with my new denim jeans from TopShop. These are the MOTO Jamie jeans in a dark wash. I bought these during the Nordstrom sale and I have been in love with them! They are so comfortable and I love that they hit a little above the ankle; I think it makes your legs look longer. I haven’t tried TopShop jeans before but I can tell they’re really great quality, and only $70! The high waist is very sliming and makes the booty look great (gotta have that). I paired a dark brown belt with them to complete the look. These will be a staple for me transitioning into fall, they look great with sandals and booties!

falltransition - 6

Processed with MOLDIV

I also bought this shirt during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale; if you want to see everything I purchased during the sale you can click here. This top is a little different for me because it’s more preppy and girly. If you guys know me, I usually lean towards more casual or edgy looks. I fell in love with this top at the sale because of the cold shoulder detail and the color. It’s very lightweight, which makes it a great transition piece from summer to fall. This BP top comes in this beautiful purple color, as well as heather gray and black.

falltransition - 4

The shoes I’m wearing are from Call It Spring and my bag is from TJ Maxx. I have been wearing these block heel sandals all the time since I purchased them. They’re so comfortable and not too high, so they’re easy to walk in. They’re on sale right now for only $24, catch them before they sell out! They come in this bone color, black and cognac. They have been a staple for me, along with the other shoes I talked about in my Summer Shoe Must-Haves.

What season is your favorite to dress for??

Follow me and reach out with any questions or comments, I’d love to hear from you!

Summer “No-Makeup” Makeup Look

Hellooo lovelies! Today I want to talk about all my favorite, go-to makeup products for the summer time! These are the products that I wear for my “no-makeup” makeup look and I reach for them every day. I love to play around with makeup and try new makeup products. This is my first makeup look that I am putting on my blog and I am so excited to start doing more!

cliniquegel

After I complete my morning routine, I put on my Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. This lotion is amazing! Clinique offers two very similar lotions, the gel and the lotion+. I have tried both and I prefer the gel formula over the lotion+ formula. The gel formula really melts into your skin and feels much more cooling and moisturizing than the lotion+ formula.

In the summer I like to use these two primers. The e.l.f. primer is a great dupe for the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer, in my opinion. The formulation is very different because the Smashbox primer feels more like silicone and the e.l.f. primer feels more like a moisturizer, but the staying power of both primers is virtually the same. I like the blemish control formula over the other e.l.f. formulas because it has 2.0% salicylic acid. My face is prone to breakouts so I try to be careful of the ingredients in the makeup I use. The other primer that I use is the Smashbox Photo Finish Radiance Primer. This primer is really great for the summer time because it gives you that natural glow and radiance that everyone is looking for in the summer! I focus this primer on my T-zone and my cheeks to get that natural glow under my BB cream.

bbcream

This summer I have been LOVING the Maybelline Dream BB Fresh, in 120 medium tint. This is such a great replacement for heavy foundation. Who wants to wear heavy foundation in the summer heat and humidity?? Not me. The formula is so creamy and lightweight, and build-able. I would say it has a light to medium coverage, the first application is light, but can be built up to a medium coverage if you need it, without getting cakey. This BB cream feels like I have nothing on my skin and is perfect for summer!

maybellinefitme

To conceal my under eyes or any blemish I may have, I have been using the Maybelline FIT me concealer in the shade, 10 light. This concealer is perfect, it doesn’t settle into my fine lines, and creates a nice brightening effect under my eyes. I love the creaminess of the concealer and how it feels on my skin.

nyxbananapowder

To set my under eye concealer I love using the NYX HD Finishing Banana Powder. This powder is great to add slightly more coverage for the dark bags under my eyes and to help brighten them. It’s a really fine powder so it doesn’t settle into any fine lines or wrinkles either!

I’ve currently been using two mascaras. The first mascara is the L’oreal Voluminous Original mascara, which I use for my top lashes. I have been in love with this mascara ever since I found it a few months ago. It creates amazing curl and adds so much volume and length. The best part is it’s not flaky once it’s dry and never gets clumpy! The other mascara I’ve been loving is the Maybelline The Falsies Push-up Drama. I use this mascara on my lower lashes because the wand doesn’t pick up too much product and is small enough for the bottom lashes.

coastalscentsbrow

The brow product that I have literally been using for the past 3 years (no joke, probably need to change it up), is the Coastal Scents Brow Palette. This palette has been really great, it has great pigmentation and it’s easy to apply.

The only eyeshadow I’ve been using on a daily basis are the two above. I’ll put Maybelline ExpertWear eyeshadow in Cool Cocoa in my crease to define the eyes and give more depth. Then I’ll take my Urban Decay Naked Basics palette and use the color Venus to highlight my brow bone and the inner corners of my eyes.

baremineralswarmth

baremineralsbrush

To bronze up my face I use the Bare Minerals All-Over Face Color in Warmth. I used to use this product back in high school and have forgotten about it for years! I recently tried it again and remembered how amazing this product really is! It creates the most natural warm, sun kissed glow. The trick is to use the Bare Minerals Flawless Face brush, this brush really allows the perfect amount of product to be applied to your face for the most natural look. I can’t imagine not having these products in my makeup bag now!

rimmelpowder

To set my makeup I’ve been using the Rimmel Stay Matte powder in Transparent. Since I first bought this powder I have gone through at least six because it is the best powder I have tried in a long time! My face can be very oily and this powder helps my makeup stay put all day long and stay matte.

smashboxhighlight

For highlight I have been using the Smashbox L.A. Lights lip and check color in Silver Lake Sunset. This cream highlight is perfect for summer because it adds a little coral color as well as the perfect amount of shimmer. When the light hits it, you can really see the glow it gives your cheeks, while still looking natural!

urbandecaylip

My go-to lip color is the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Lip Pencil in Naked2. This lip color is the perfect nude-beige and stays put all day. In the summer, I want to keep my make-up light and nude for that effortless, “no-makeup” makeup look and this lip pencil compliments any look perfectly. The formula is very smooth and doesn’t smudge or fade throughout the day.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2017

Hellooo friends !! I wanted to share with you today my favorite finds from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I found some really great items for fall and I can’t wait to style them all for you! Keep an eye out for posts featuring these items coming soon! I did not have access to the early access sale because I don’t have a Nordstrom Credit Card. But today the sale opened to the public, so I wanted make sure I got this post out to you as soon as I could! The sale ends August 7th, but I would recommend going online or to your nearest Nordstrom store ASAP if you want to find the best deals!

Cozy Thermal Top

This first top is from the brand Socialite, I got it in a size small. I love this shirt because it is SO SOFT. I would say it’s not your typical thermal because it fits a little looser, and it’s much softer in my opinion (and more flattering). It comes in black, oatmeal and heather gray. Originally $38, the anniversary price is only $24.90! This top is going to be an essential layering piece for me for the fall and winter!

Rib Knit Cardigan

The next item I purchased is this cardigan from Nordstroms own BP. brand, I got it in a size small. This cardigan is going to be an essential layering piece for the fall and winter as well. I picked it up because of the color and how soft it is! I am 5′ 2″ and it falls right at my knees. I absolutely love the color, but it also comes in black and gray. The original price is $49, the anniversary price is $31.90. I can already see myself wearing this all the time when the weather cools down.

Lattice Back Sweater

Another sweater I picked up is this lattice back sweater from TopShop brand. I got it in a size US 2 and it comes in this white color as well as a mustard color. I am really excited about styling this sweater because I think it will be a great transition from summer to fall. TopShop did a great job with the details of the lattice back and the bell sleeves! It’s a super comfortable sweater that is very flattering because of the v-neck front. The original price of the sweater is $65, the anniversary price is $42.90!

Quilted Velvet Bomber Jacket

My favorite purchase from the sale is this velvet bomber jacket from the brand Bernardo. When I picked this item off the rack, it definitely felt a little out of my comfort zone, but I figured it didn’t hurt to try it on. This is not something I would usually reach for, but when I tried it on I fell in love! First off, this jacket is such good quality and very heavy so it will keep you warm. I love the color as well, again, not a color that I have a lot of in my closet. I am so excited to experiment with styling this jacket and can’t wait to show you all how I end up wearing it! I got it in a size x-small and it fits perfectly, I didn’t want it to be too oversized and swallow me up. The jacket comes in this mahogany color as well as a silver color. The original price is $138, the anniversary price is $89.90!

Ruffle Skort

The last item I purchased is actually not part of the anniversary sale but I did pick it up at Nordstrom during this trip. This skort is from the brand Mimi Chica and I’m obsessed. I went into the dressing room with so many tops, and jackets and realized that this was the only pair of bottoms I brought in (of course I also wore a dress to go shopping). But this skort turned out to be the perfect item to try all of the clothes on with because it paired almost perfectly with everything! This is the first skort that I’ve ever bought (unless you circa back to the 90s and early 2000s) and I’m so glad I found it. The front part is the shorts and the skirt is in the back, which I also thought was unique for a skort.  I got it in a size x-small, and it fits a little high-waisted. Even though it wasn’t part of the anniversary sale, it was only $35!

I also wanted to mention two pairs of shoes that I didn’t end up buying but I may have to go back and get. The first pair are these Corbin Genuine Calf Hair Slide Loafers from Halogen. I love buying patterned or textured shoes that you can pair with a simple outfit. I read online that these run a little small, so you should size up. I am normally a 6.5, so I’d get a size 7.

The second pair are the regular Corbin Slide Loafers from Halogen. I think these are so chic and would compliment any outfit. I love that the mens style dress shoes are such a trend for women right now. These loafers come in the wheat color, as well as silver metallic and black suede. Same as the loafers above, I read online that these run small as well, so don’t forget to size up!

Remember, the best deals and items from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale sell out quick! So go online or get over to your nearest Nordstrom soon, before the best items are gone! If you did shop the sale, what were your favorite items you bought? I may be going back for more, so share your favorites with me below!!

Better than Basics

Helloo friends!! I hope you all are having a great summer so far! I can’t believe it’s already the middle of July. For today’s post, I’m sharing a look from this past weekend; my parents and brother came to visit and I showed them around Ellicott City. I wanted to share my go-to outfit when I’m having a casual day! It was really hot this past weekend (98 + humidity – sheesh) but it was going to rain so I brought a flannel just in case. Plus the flannel adds a little somthin’ somthin’ to the outfit, of course!

I got this crop top from, you guessed it, Island Gypsy! My favorite part of this shirt is the ruffle details. It really adds a girly flare to a basic crop top! The ribbed material is also very breathable and great for summertime. My denim shorts are from Hollister, and my flannel is from Macy’s. Whenever I’m dressing for a casual event, I aim to be as comfortable as possible! We were going to be walking around a majority of the day, so I paired the outfit with these Steve Madden sneakers. These sneakers are so comfortable, and go with almost anything because of their color. Pro-tip: make sure to wear small socks or you will get blisters!

While showing my parents around Ellicott City, I found Sweet Elizabeth Jane boutique. That’s where I got these sunglasses from, how cute?! Only $25. The store is adorable, and totally my aesthetic. They do a great job of drawing you in; in the front of the store they have an old classic car, so cool! I am definitely gonna be heading back soon to add more of their adorable clothes to my closet.

Lace-Up, Tassel Romper

Helloo friends, I hope you had a great Fourth of July!! So I did a lot of shopping lately and stumbled upon this fun romper from Island Gypsy. Island Gypsy doesn’t have a website currently, they are a local boutique, but I will link similar rompers below. I am so excited to be writing to you guys today, I know I have been a little bit behind! My 23rd birthday was last Thursday and I’ve been on vacation. I feel so blessed each and every year when I look back on what I’ve been able to accomplish thus far and the people that I’ve been lucky to surround myself with.

I love the laced up detail on this romper, which is a huge trend right now. It’s adjustable, so you can have it as open or closed as you like. For going out to lunch or a casual dinner I would wear it more closed (pictured), then for going out to a bar with friends, you could play around with more cleavage. The tassels at the end of the strings and on the bottom of the shorts are a really cute detail as well! I also decided to pair it with simple jewelry, since the romper has a lot of detail on its own.

What I also find unique about this romper is the texture. The fabric is a waffle weave material that is very light and airy, perfect for the summer. The colors of the print are also really great for summer. Throwing on a dress or romper is one of my favorite things to wear when I don’t want to put too much thought into pairing an outfit. I’ve worn this romper twice already and it looks great with gladiator sandals or slip-ons, as well as with wedges!

I paired the romper with my sandals from Lulu’s that are featured in other posts here and here. These sandals have been my go-to for the spring and summer so far. They are so comfortable and go with any outfit!
